She started it.

"You should write more" she explained, "You have such a great way with words".

"How dare you! You are setting my expectations of myself so high. Your praise of my previous work has spurred me on, but think of the consequences. People may actually read this stuff. The full uncensored contents of my head laid bare for everyone's glaring eyes to peer through at their leisure. What about my family, my friends, what will they think of me. This is the end that woman with the orb spoke of. OH GOD WHY!"...

...I said to myself, in my head.

"Sure that a good idea" I agreed, out loud.

So it's taken up to the 5th post to go all meta. This is not a good sign. I think what I'm getting at is that without encouragement I wouldn't do anything. My individual drive is incredibly lacking, though this is fuelled by my complete lack of any actual self confidence in my abilities.

I think that's the issue with untapped potential. We all have the capability to achieve small amounts of greatness every day of our lives. But many of us lack the ability to tune into what those around us can provide to help us excel on a regular basis. Instead we are given the wet bread equivalent from employers who send an electronic pat on the back after you achieve the mundane and unimportant. Or we lean our weight against false ideals that others set out for us, starting from school, to your live feed right up to some white anxious guy behind a keyboard telling you how you should think and feel. I get the irony of this trail of thought.

But as much as I understand I'm part of the problem, it's only because I have some incredible people behind me who give me the get up and go to be your problem. Getting you to this point where I can make you think another way, even if its "god I hate this guy", is my tiny victory for the day. What I'm trying to say is amongst the out pour of false praise and empty empathy that we are bombarded with everyday, there is one voice out there for all of you that has the potential to push you from feeling like nothing to achieving everything.

I'm lucky my voice is the soft and caring tones of the love of my life. For you, it could be the nagging of a close relative, or the overly attentive co-worker that grabbed you a coffee when you looked like shit (again). So homework for this week is to focus everything you can at some point and listen out for the voice that is pushing you forward, even if it's just a little, hold onto it and see just ho much further you get. Have a tiny victory on me.

And for those of you who already have that shit locked down, good job, keep doing that thing your doing. You're clearly really good at it....

OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE! I'M SORRY I'VE DONE IT TO YOU! CURSE YOU MYSTERY WOMAN AND YOUR ORB! YOU STARTED THIS!!!
